With Donna Summer another female icon has left us.

She will be dearly missed and remembered not only as the Queen of Disco but as a powerful and talented person that influenced greats from David Bowie over Kylie Minogue to ‘current club-anthem king Flo Rida’ .

Perusing one of my favourite blogs, The Fox Is Black, I came across this article which tries to de-mystify the term hipster. What is a hipster? Who are they and where do they come from? Having released our very own ‘I Heart Hipsters’ album, I thought I’d share this short but very interesting video insight into the term ‘hipster’.

Upcoming Releases

We have got a couple of exciting new releases coming up in the following weeks:

Number one is the five-album Globe Stepping, a remix project that fuses authentic world music atmospheres with cutting edge beats by some amazing UK producers, including IDM legends Tony Thorpe (Moody Boyz) and Si Begg (Cabbageboy).

Si Begg is a master at mixing cut-up electronic elements with heavy beats that keep your head spinning and your body asking for more.

Here are two impressive examples of is work.

Tony Thorpe’s speciality as part of the moody boys and beyond is the incorporation of dub, drum and bass and elements of African music into dance music.

His knowledge and understanding have earned him the title of curator for ‘Dub Step Chronicles’ at Massive Attacks Meltdown festival.

Here is the Moody Boys classic Funky Zulu.

The idea of the Globe Stepping project was to breathe new life into the ECK world albums, written with TV editors in mind, and catapult them into 2012.

All five albums will also be commercially released under our in house label 2NX .

To really get an idea of the sound of Globe Stepping you’ll have to listen to it!

This animation by String Theory, a NZ-based agency/production company, is called Bucks Metamorphosis and it is definitely one of the most brilliant animations I have ever seen.

I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do.

It has been created as part of a project to help Good Books, the online bookseller that passes all its profits through to Oxfam.
